NOTE FROM THE SPANISH DELEGATION

Subject: Immigration from Hong Kong
The Spanish authorities are receiving an increasing number of immigration applications from Hong Kong citizens.
The Spanish delegation would therefore like to know:
1. Whether Member States have taken or propose to take any specific measures with
regard to immigration applications from Hong Kong citizens;
2. What the situation will be for such people as regards identity papers and in
particular the authorities which are to renew their passports as from 1997.
The Spanish delegation would like this topic to be discussed at of the ad hoc Group on Immigration, on 12 and 13 July in Rome.
