List of British Undertakings

Thank you for your faxes of 29 November and 3rd December.

On receipt of your first fax, a list comprising those companies in Category A and C was sent to the Governor under cover of the Senior Trade Commissioner's letter of 29 November. A copy is attached. Unfortunately we believe it contains some minor errors which will need to be checked.

First of all, it is highly unlikely the lawyers and other partnerships are incorporated and therefore the "Ltd" should be deleted from the names. The "Ltd" was added in most cases in manuscript to the list at your end. This applies to:

Barlow Lyde and Gilbert;

Ince and Co;

Norton Rose;

Pannell Kerr Foster;

Richards Butler and Co (note the 's' in Richards)

(These and other partnerships may well have registered their names at Company House to prevent others using them, but that is their trading name, which in almost every case is the unadorned name of the partnership).

Secondly, we believe that Davy McKee and Crittal Windows to be incorporated and therefore Ltd' should be added to their names.

Thirdly, Crown Motors Ltd who have been cleared are almost certainly a different company to the one submitted with the Inchcape list and this needs to be checked.
