because of the considerable interest in this issue in Hong Kong and to underline the Government's commitment to these widows we suggest that the assurance should also be given in Parliament. I attach a draft Parliamentary Question and reply. If Ministers are content with this perhaps Mr Gilbert could organise this announcement when the House returns after the recess.

I should be grateful if Mr Gilbert and Mr Storr could liaise with Miss Daws about the timing as we should aim to reply to the letters on the day the question is answered.
