I wrote to you a little time ago about the question of non British spouses of British citizens in Hong Kong.

I have now received the enclosed paper from them which shows, as I feared during the second reading of the debate, that they are still extremely concerned about the situation. I would be grateful if this matter could be urgently studied. If necessary I would be prepared

to put down an amendment at the report stage of the Bill, but I would much prefer not to have to do so.

I wonder if it would be helpful, provided some of them are in London, if I could perhaps bring a small deputation to see you to discuss this matter before the Hong Kong Bill completes its passage in the House of Commons.
