Children born afterwards will be British citizens
automatically under the 1981 Act. The total commitment will depend on the size of the families of those selected:
confident it will not exceed the figure of 225,000 given in
the December statement.

After 1997 the 1981 Act applies as normal and the usual
transmission rules apply. Safeguards: good character,
