Sir Denys Henderson has passed on to me your letter of 4 April concerning the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Bill.

As you know from my letter to your colleague, the Home Secretary, we are very encouraged and supportive of the Government's actions in this matter.

I believe you are already aware of our situation and as you know, we have also briefed the Hong Kong Committee of the House. I therefore do not believe there is a need for further discussion at this point.
