Thank you for your minute of 29 March. I have also seen the telegram from the Governor of Hong Kong.

In the light of the points made, I would be content for the Garrison to have a separate, formal category of its own. I accept that the presentational advantage lies in the category being incorporated within the Disciplined Services Section, with the proportion of places available to the Garrison being determined on the same basis as that for the other disciplined services, and recommend to colleagues that this should be agreed.
