2. The Home Secretary has not yet responded to the Secretary of
State's letter proposing an ASS outside the Bill and outside the
50,000 limit.
Garrison
3. The Home Secretary has now written to OD (K) colleagues recommending that they agree to the garrison having a separate formal category of its own within the Disciplined Services Section,
with the proportion of places being determined on the same basis as that for the other disciplined services. We have recommended that the Secretary of State should write supporting this.
