Dear Andrew,

163

Thank you for your letter of 9 March about the Government's proposed nationality package which we discussed on the telephone last week. It was helpful of you to write setting out the views of your members.

Ministers have fully taken on board the concerns expressed by British companies in Hong Kong about the loss through emigration of their key personnel. drawing up the details of the scheme, they have sought to take account of these concerns.

I

As you may know, the Government's proposals are due to be presented to Parliament and published later this week. This will include details of the package, the selection procedure and the categories of people to be covered. suggest that when you have studied the details we might have another word if there are any points which require clarification.

Yours Sincerely Alan Paul
