Tony Henderson MP
in connection with his sponsored visit to HK, Henderson wants us to include the following
(a) a visit to one or two small garment factories. showing the high productivity in Hong Kong factories. (Henderson said "sweat shop" but we told him that there were any in Hong Kong now! }
(b) a visit to an agricultural area in the New Territories
(c) a meeting with HKG officials to discuss the Uruguay Round. MFA and GART
He suggested that the visit to the HK Stock Exchange could be dropped to accommodate the above. His wife should be included in (a) and (D).
I suggest the programme for Wednesday 11.4.90 could be revised to start with a discussion with STI or
or OSTI on (c), followed by a visit to say garment factories in Tsuen Wan and then a visit to Yuen Long (via Route Twisk). DO(TW) or DO(YL) could offer hospitalities.
Mrs Henderson is involved in training for social services workers at the semi-skilled/vocational level. She would wish to visit a training institution in that area. I suggest you ask IC to consider a visit to a polytechnic or the Baptist College to see the sub-degree training in the social services. This could be arranged on a day while Mr Henderson is on other more "political" meetings.
Mr Henderson would like to receive some information on the brain drain. Please send him the write-ups that you have.
