Classification of
Occupations (ISCO).
The
groupings form the basis for the Hong Kong census and are used for other statistical purposes there including collection and analysis of emigration data.
The groups enable the working population to be effectively divided into manageable numbers. Those with broadly comparable skills are brought together and a distinction between professionals and associate professionals is maintained. The groups cover many hundreds of different occupations.
