LETTER FROM WINSTON CHURCHILL, MP, ON THE NATIONALITY PACKAGE FOR
HONG KONG AND IMMIGRATION GENERALLY
A 1. Mr Winston Churchill wrote to the Prime Minister on 2 January
about Hong Kong. I submit a draft reply, together with a draft
covering Private Secretary letter.
2. The draft has been coordinated with the Home Office, and has
been cleared with South Asian Department because of the Sub-Continent/immigration aspect.
B 3. The draft refers to the Secretary of State's and the Home
Secretary's letter of 9 February to MPs, explaining the reasons for the Government's proposals.
