The Rt Hon Sir Patrick Mayhew QC MP
HOUSE OF COMMONS
LONDON SWIA OAA

Dear Private Secretary
Sir Patrick received a copy of a letter sent by Mrs Meriel Packman, his constituent, of Court Lodge, Groombridge, Kent, addressed to the Prime Minister and dated 16 December 1989. (I attach a copy of that letter for ease of reference).
Sir Patrick thinks that the Prime Minister should know that Mrs Packman is the wife of the vice-chairman of the Tunbridge Wells Conservative Association and that her husband is likely to becomee chairman in a few months' time. Sir Patrick has, himself, written to Mrs Packman in the terms of the letter which I attach,, and would be very grateful if the reply from the Prime Minister could be over her own signature.
Yours sincerely
