CONFIDENTIAL
The Secretary of State asked the Home Secretary if he would like Mr Maude to see the Home Affairs Committee with
him on 15 January. Mr Waddington thought that he had better go ahead as planned, ie without Mr Maude. However, he hoped that Mr Maude would be part of the ministerial team which would see through the Bill.
