I was able to use David Liddingt the basis for a discussion on the issue of Hong Kong at a Meeting of the East Midlands Area Executive Committee held yesterday evening.
We had a wide ranging and full discussion which included contributions from people with personal or commercial contacts in Hong Kong. I thought you would be interested to know that, without exception, the members of the Committee supported the Government's policy, reasoned that it was eminently sensible to maintin the integrity of Hong Kong during the difficult period of transition and unanimously asked me to write to you giving you our full support.
