Thank you very much for your letter of

30 November 1989 and the comments on our drafts of the new forms.

We have carefully considered the 4 points you made and our views are as follows (in the same order as they appeared in your letter) :-

We wish to retain the 'Occupation' column as such information has proven to be useful, for example, in cases concerning forgery or loss of passports referred from diplomatic posts overseas for verification of a person's identity.

Separation is one of the marital statii defined in local legislation. The retention of 'Separated' in Section 1 of the future forms O and C will facilitate applicants of that status in filling out the forms.

The option of 'jumbo' passport is open to children and will remain to be. The drafts of forms OM and D have been modified accordingly.
