Like many colleagues, I imagine, I have been approached by the Council of Hongkong Indian Associations to support their case for British Nationality after the Crown Colony is transferred out of British rule. What they have to say is
very convincing.
To be left after 1997 with no right to Chinese Nationality and no right to live in British territory anywhere in the world, they are very exposed to
the whims of Chinese authorities. And the threat of statelessness looms after two generations.
Whatever is decided about Hongkong citizens in general, this sub-section merits special treatment,
it not?
