The Council of Hong Kong Indian Association have drawn my attention to the very difficult position in which ethnic minorities in Hong Kong will be placed in 1997, unless the Government accepts the Foreign Affairs Select Comittee recommendation to grant them British citizenship.

I am writing to express my very strong support for that recommendation.
