Miss Nettleton's memory, there was a Chinese woman in Tianjin who had been married to a British citizen whom she used to visit as part of her consular duties. She, like many other people, had had her home ransacked during the Cultural Revolution (not entirely successfully as she managed to hide her copy of the bible and other treasured possessions). was harassed but not apparently singled out for special attention.
