HINDUSTAN TIMES INTERVIEW WITH THE PRIME MINISTER
Thank you for your letter of 7 March about the request of Mr II K Dua, Editor in Chief of the Hindustan Times, for an interview with the Prime Minister.
I attach the draft text of the written interview. I should be grateful if you could let us have the final version before 3 April, to pass on to the Hindustan Times and to our High Commission in New Delhi.
The Prime Minister has agreed to give II K Dua a short oral interview and photocall at 9.45am on Tuesday 3 April. We expect Dua will want to ask about Lithuania, and despite the fact that he wanted an interview to cover wide European issues, possibly Britain's position on Kashmir. We doubt he will want to ask about Sikh extremist issues. Subject to your views, we will prepare briefing on these issues next week.
