Dear warren.
HUNGARY:
1.
HONG KONG REFUGEES
I would be grateful for a reply to my teleletter of 7 August. The subject may come to a head again
soon.
2. There has been some press coverage recently of remarks by Dr Bela Torok, Head of the Hungarian Foreign Investment Bureau, about possible Hong Kong immigrants. Torok believes that 5,000 Hong Kong citizens could be living in Hungary by 1997. But the Government is uncertain that it needs so many new workers and there is no indication as to what the immigrants would do with the US$2 billion they
own.
Torok ended his comments by saying that Hungary remained open to new proposals.
Yours ever,
