1. I enclose a copy of a letter of 20 April from my Australian colleague, Geoff Bentley, the Consul General, a follow up to the telephone conversation that I had with him and reported in my telno 118 of 17 April about Mr Maude's statements, when here, on the nationality issue and Australia's reaction, together with a copy of my acknowledgement.

2. You will doubtless let me know if you think any more substantive reply is required. I doubt myself whether there is much point in getting into any greater detail at this stage.
