Governor clarified the point that the logistic support functions related to areas such as PSTON. There was also a need to assess the effect of cuts on individual maintenance teams as and when property was handed over. The figures which the Minister had released would relate to the direct impact of the withdrawal of the Batallion. The Chief Minister asked whether the new additional personnel recruited for the Gibraltar Regiment would be making use of civilian or MOD facilities, and whether they will be paying Gibraltar taxes. Mr Maude felt that this clear at this stage. His Excellency the Governor pointed out that existing members of the Gibraltar Regiment used local services, with the exception of the medical facilities.
