Initially the Italian response was not encouraging but the Italians are symathetic to the problem and we are hopeful that they
either can come up with a scheme similar in scope to our own, through citizenship or residence permits for key employees with Italian companies in Hong Kong.
2. Other countries which are considering a residence permit scheme (for employees of their companies in Hong Kong) include: Belgium, France, FRG, New Zealand, Sweden and Denmark.
