of the Ordinance resulting from the Bill. After that period has

ended, any provision in pre-existing legislation referred to in the Schedule, and acts done under any such provision, will be unaffected by the Bill of Rights for a further period of 1 year or such longer period as the Legislative Council may determine (clause 14(3) and

(4)). Under clause 14(5), the Legislative Council may add to the Schedule a reference to any provision in pre-existing legislation.

There may be some requirements for additional staff in the

Legal Department, the Legal Aid Department and the Judiciary, arising from the Bill of Rights. The extent of these requirements is difficult to predict and every effort will be made to absorb them

within existing resources.
