this Ordinance that does not admit of a construction consistent with

this Ordinance is, to the extent of the inconsistency, repealed.

(3) Any principle of common law (including the rules of equity)

or customary law that is inconsistent with this Ordinance is, to the

extent of the inconsistency, abrogated.

Interpretation of subsequent legislation

4.

All legislation enacted or made after the commencement of

this Ordinance shall, to the extent that it admits of such a

construction, be construed as being subject to this Ordinance.

Public emergencies

5. (1) In time of public emergency which threatens the life

of the nation and the existence of which is officially proclaimed,

measures may be taken derogating from the Bill of Rights to the

extent strictly required by the exigencies of the situation.
