Implement further the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights as

applied to Hong Kong, and for ancillary and connected matters.

WHEREAS

(1) the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights applies to

Hong Kong; and

(2) that Covenant includes an undertaking to take the necessary steps in adopt such legislative or other measures as may be necessary to give effect to the rights recognized in that Covenant,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows-

Short title and commencement

(1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Hong Kong Bill of Rights Ordinance 1990.

(1) 本炸例可引購為《1990年香港人權宣言炸例》。

(2)第3(1)及(2)炸门小條例生效日期起計2年後實施。

(2) Section 3(1) and (2) shall come into operation 2 years after the commencement of this Ordinance.

Interpretation

(1) In this Ordinance, unless the context otherwise requires—— "article" means an article of the Bill of Rights;

“Bill of Rights” (^#vä) means the Hong Kong Bill of Rights set out in

Part.
