Robert Wilson, Clerk to the FAC, telephoned this afternoon to say that the Committee had decided they would like an opportunity for a further discussion on Hong Kong. They were therefore inviting Mr Maude to attend a further evidence session on Wednesday 11 July, at 4.15 pm. Questions would be based upon our recently published response to the FAC's Report on Hong Kong.

2. The FCO are in fact TOPS for Questions that afternoon. would therefore be grateful if you would let me know whether or not the Minister would be prepared to appear before the Committee at 4.15 pm the same afternoon.
