Pengiran Bahrin told me that his visit to Hong Kong had gone well. The Chief Justice had endorsed his idea of Intermediate Courts.

2. Until their establishment, Sir Yang Ti Liang had agreed to continue to provide Judges on a visiting basis for the Supreme Court. For the Court of Appeal, the Chief Justice had undertaken to provide Pengiran Bahrin with a list of retiring Hong Kong Judges who were prepared to visit Brunei from time to time. Bruneians would engage a panel of these on contract, from whom the Court of Appeal could be assembled.

This is an excellent development and should just keep us within the timeframe set by Ministers for the withdrawal of the Hong Kong Judges.
