Migration and Visa Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office
present their compliments to the Austrian Embassy and have the honour to refer to the Austrian Embassy's Note No 465/4-KONS/90 requesting confirmation that holders of British National (Overseas)
passports and British Dependent Territory Citizen passports can be
considered as falling under the regulations of the Exchange of Notes
between the United Kingdom and Austria concerning the abolition of
visas of 1963.
The Department can confirm that the holders of such passports can be
considered as falling under paragraph 6 of the said Exchange of Notes only where the passport is endorsed to the effect that the
holder is entitled to re-admission to the United Kingdom. In the
absence of such an endorsement, the Department confirms that the
holder would be accepted back by the territory issuing the document.
The Department very much hope that they will soon be in a position to discuss with the Austrian Embassy the terms of a revised Visa
Abolition Agreement.
Migration and Visa Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office avail themselves of this opportunity to renew to the Austrian Embassy the assurance of their highest consideration.
