themselves on it we understand that there are no current plans to include Hong Kong.

Article 140 allows any member of the European Community to join Schengen with the agreement of the existing Members. Italy made its application some time ago and both Spain and Portugal have declared their interest. However, there is no prospect at present of the UK acceding to the Convention.
