Newspaper Cutting from Wen Wei Po
on 30 December. 1987
Translation
Ke Zaishuo was reported by several newspapers
recently to have said that "the Chinese intends to allow
the people of Hong Kong to hold two different passports after
1997 with the exception of a full British passport"; and also that "(the solution to this problem) will probably be
announced in 1990 in the form of an Annex to the Basic Law".
2.
In a special occasion, Ke told the reporters of
Wen Wei Po that all these reports were incorrect. He clarified
that he had touched upon the question of Hong Kong residents
holding two passports at the 6th BLDC Plenary held at Guangzhou. He said that he had expressed a few personal and general opinions
on the issue. However, he had not attended any formal press
interview during that time and had not made any of the above
statements.
