The channel of communication
with the International
Frequency Registration Board (IFRB) of the ITU is through the
United Kingdom Government. Whenever Hong Kong wishes to have a
frequency registered by the IFRB SO as to gain international
recognition and protection, or Hong Kong wishes to seek IFRE
assistance in tracking down interference from
sources outside
Hong Kong, the request is transmitted to the IFRB through the
United Kingdom Government. This arrangement enables Hong Kong
to decide which frequencies need to be registered with the IFRB
after considering the local needs and also coordinating with
the authorities of the areas adjacent to Hong Kong.

As a result of the rapid development
telecommunication system locally, Hong Kong is beginning to
take an active part in the work of the international
committees
