ALLOCATION OF CALL SIGNS TO HONG KONG: PITCAIRN ISLANDS

1. Thank you for your letter of 16 October.

2.

RM 28/11

The best estimate we can offer is that it might cost around £820 to reimburse Pitcairn radio operators for QSL cards made redundant by a change of call sign. This is not a large penalty, but if it arises from an administrative decision by HMG, then clearly HMG should pay.

3. In a letter of 25 November 1988 to the Commissioner for Pitcairn, the DTI's Radio Communications Division stated that if any change in Pitcairn's call signs became necessary they would insist on adequate notice being given, with "adequate" defined as nothing less than 4-5 years.

May we take it that this still holds good?

You and
