APPROVAL OF FINAL ACTS OF WARCS 1983-1988

1. In your letter of 10 July, you asked whether we are yet in a position to confirm approval of the Final Acts of WARCs 1983-88. I explained to you on the telephone a few weeks ago that we were still awaiting confirmation from Hong Kong that they have no objection to the UK approving the Final Acts on their behalf.

Hong Kong Department are pursuing the matter urgently with Hong Kong and Peking, in order to elicit a response from them as soon as possible. I hope that we shall be able to give our formal approval of the Final Acts within a week.
