APPROVAL OF THE FINAL ACTS OF THE WARCS 1983-88

1. As a result of the action referred to in Janet Rodemark's letter to you of 24 July Hong Kong have told us that they have no objection to the UK approving the Final Acts of WARCS 1983-1988 on their behalf. We are therefore content that the ITU should be notified in the form of the draft letter enclosed with Anthony Bell's letter of 17 January to Richard Northern whom I have replaced in ESED. I would be grateful if you would let us have a copy of this letter as soon as it is sent so that we can forewarn Hong Kong in case there is an adverse reaction from the Chinese authorities.
