The following is additional information given at the press conference the Lantau Fixed Crossing, which were not contained in the original statement faxed to you. As usual, you will receive media cuttings on

The direct construction contract approach will save between six and nine months in the construction period.
The bridge will take five-six years to build.
The construction of the bridge is a matter for Hong Kong to decide.
Not pre-empting the talks with China which are due to begin on
October 15 and last for about 10 days.
In cost terms, the Lantau fixed crossing represents only about one- airport and related the cost of the replacement of tenth
developments.
The cost of the bridge is estimated at HK$6-7 billion at present day
costs.
The overall cost of the port and airport development strategy is "still very crude",. the
detailed
design is

Hong Kong is looking forward to the talks with the Chinese and would like to have Chinese support for the entire project.
