A further
elaboration of some of the reasons why these
projects are thought to be attractive to the private sector is
as follows :
(a) all container terminals in Hong Kong are privately
financed, built and operated. They have proved to
be a very attractive commercial enterprise;
(b)
multi-purpose terminals are another type of port facility. They are more versatile than container
terminals and can handle cargo from different
types of ships. Hong Kong does not yet have any
purpose-built multi-purpose terminals. However,
studies done So far indicate that they would be
commercially viable;
