CLEARANCE PROCEDURES FOR VISITS TO BRITISH DEPENDENT TERRITORIES BY US OFFICIALS, SHIPS AND AIRCRAFT

I attach a set of draft guidelines drawn up by our Embassy in Washington for the procedures to be followed by US officials, ships and aircraft in the DTs for which WIAD is responsible.

2. I should welcome comments:

a) from NAD, Defence Dept, and Legal Advisers on the text as it stands.

b) an indication from SED, FID, HKD, SAMD, EAD and SPD on whether they wish for reference to be made in the document to the DTS for which they are responsible and, perhaps in consultation with their own Legal Advisers, any suggestions on how the text should be expanded or amended to facilitate their inclusion.

3. WIAD are not consulting our Govenors at this stage, but we shall do so once we have a text agreed between FCO departments.
