EUROPEAN COUNCIL REGULATION (EEC) NO 3626/82
DEROGATION UNDER ARTICLE 14 AUTHORISING THE
IMPORT AND EXPORT OF PERSONAL HOUSEHOLD EFFECTS
1. The Secretary of State in exercise of his powers under Article 14 of European Council Regulation (EEC) No. 3626/82 ("the Regulation") and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby grants a derogation from Article 5 and 10 of the said Regulation and authorises the importation into, or exportation from, the United Kingdom without permits of specimens controlled by Articles 2 and 3 of the Regulation that are the personal and household effects of persons arriving into or departing from the United Kingdom, subject to the conditions set out in paragraphs 2-5 of this derogation.
CONDITIONS
2. Specimens imported under the terms of this derogation may not be sold by the importer or otherwise disposed of in any way within the United Kingdom by such person or his heir.

Nothing in this derogation shall operate to authorise:
i.
the importation into or exportation from the United Kingdom of any live animal;
ii.
the exportation from the United Kingdom of anything which is, or is a part of, or derives wholly or partly from, an animal or plant of a kind which occurs in a wild state in the United Kingdom; and
iii.
the importation of any item acquired after 1 July 1975 and brought for the first time into the United Kingdom by a person normally residing in the United Kingdom.
This derogation may be revoked at any time.
