DTI IMPROVES EXPORT SERVICES
Trade Minister, Lord Trefgarne, today announced improvements to Government export services designed to increase the effectiveness and accessibility of the services for exporters.
The changes, which come into effect on 1 June 1990, include:
improved reports for UK exporters from the Market Information Enquiry Service;
new charging structure for certain services;
a new catalogue detailing publications available to exporters; and
a new series of "Setting up in Business in.
booklets.
These changes will help provide better services to exporters by improving the presentation and content of reports, and offer easier access to publications.
In a written answer to a Parliamentary Question from
Lord Colnbrook, Lord Trefgarne said:
"Over 21,000 people involved in exporting now hold DTI Service Cards. Our market research shows that the services we provide are much appreciated by exporters. The changes we are introducing will help us to provide those services in the ways that are most helpful to exporters by improving the presentation and content of reports and by making it easier to get access to our publications.
"The Market Information Enquiry Service provides reports from any of the 190 Foreign and Commonwealth Office posts around the world, in response to enquiries from UK exporters. Charges were introduced for this service for the first time on 1 April 1989. I recognise it is important to present reports in a fully professional way and to ensure that consistently high standards are met by our staff in answering enquiries.
