The tasks and role of the Royal Navy in Hong Kong

Further to our telephone conversation yesterday, I write to confirm that we look forward to having your views on the paper enclosed with Geoff arnes' letter of 27 November 1989 to Alan Paul in respect of the above.

As I understand that MOD are convening a meeting in early February to discuss the future role of the RN in Hong Kong, it would be helpful to know at an early date whether you wish me to provide any further information in this regard.
