Thank you for your letter of 1 December. I take your point, and I have confirmed with Alan Paul that he would be happy to see you as well as me.
For the record I have been continuously concerned with Hong Kong affairs since May 1978, except for less than two years from 1985-87 when I was in the Philippines. If you want our discussion to range more widely than the period when I was Political Adviser in Hong Kong I should have no objection.
