On street names, there does not appear to be any need for changes before 1997. It would be up to the future SAR Government to make whatever changes it deemed to be desirable after 1997.

On monuments, we consider that we should not take the initiative. Although it has been reported that China has requested the removal of the statute of Jaoa Ferriera do Amaral in Macau, they have not expressed similar concerns regarding any monuments in Hong Kong.
