JLG XVI DINNER: PROTOCOL
1. I have consulted GHF. The normal protocol is that
following the last course, the host rises and toasts the
Queen and the Head of State of the guest of honour. He then
resumes his seat for coffee and rises again to make his
speech. At the end of the speech he may informally toast eg
the guest of honour, the coming talks etc. I attach the form of words for the formal toasts and an appropriate
ending to the speech.
The guest of honour can respond after the speech but is
not required to do so.
