A pleasant lunch was enjoyed in Cameron House, which is situated on the banks of Loch Lomond, before the group returned to Glasgow to catch their flight south to London.
CONCLUSION
The visit achieved its aim of providing a relaxed informal setting in which the British and Chinese members of the Sino-British Joint Liaison Group could get to know one another better and have an opportunity to discuss informally many of the issues relevant to the 'transfer' of Hong Kong to China in 1997. Much of the time was spent discussing and explaining the complexities of the English
English and Chinese legal systems. The group members were all very pleased with and thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Scotland, a country very few of them had visited before. They were impressed by the warmth and friendliness of the country and were themselves an exceedingly pleasant group to escort.
