SECTION 11: REGISTRIES AND COMMUNICATIONS
1. We agree with the proposal that 50% of the DS10's time should be devoted to the BTC: this was in fact our own proposal. I welcome the flexibility suggested in the need for the DS10 on occasion to spend more time here, for instance in regard to the run up to JLG sessions. I also agree that it would make sense to utilise any surplus capacity in assistance to the Administration Section at the BTC. From this point of view it would clearly make sense for the DS10 Registrar to receive training in areas proposed.
2. We also agree that a rigorous weeding of the non-current files should be carried out with one proviso: in a continuing negotiation of this kind it is essential to keep negotiation records. We frequently need to consult these. Some of the papers might need to be retained for longer than might otherwise be the case.
3. I agree with the proposal to provide us with a dedicated classified fax machine. The geographical department will be well aware of our need from time to time to communicate with them without going through Government House Communications Centre.
