admission of the equipment referred to in that Annex. Article 8 provides that the Annex or Annexes by which a Contracting Party is bound shall be construed as an integral part of the Convention in relation to that party.

The United Kingdom ratified the Convention on 25 March 1963 (text at Annex A). The Convention entered into force on 1 July 1962 in accordance with Article 16. Article 19 provides that at the time of signature or deposit of its instrument of ratification or accession or at any time thereafter, any state may declare by notification that the

Convention extends to all or any of the territories for whose international relations it is responsible. The United

Kingdom did not make such a declaration at the time of the United Kingdom's ratification of the Convention but it did make such a declaration in respect of Hong Kong on 14

December 1973 (text at Annex B). It declared, in accordance

with Article 19, that Annexes A, B and C would apply to Hong

Kong (Article 15) with effect from 14 March 1974.
