Asia and Pacific Plant Protection Commission (APPPC)

Thank you for your letter of 14 February which reached us beyond the deadline set in the FAO letter.

Having regard to the resources implications, Hong Kong will only take part in the Working Group on Harmonization of Principles of Phytosanitary Regulations under the Standing Committee on Plant Quarantine. The functions of this Working Group would have high relevance to our phytosanitary inspection services provided to the plant import and export trade. As a large volume of plants, plant products and materials originated from China is exported through Hong Kong to places in the Asia and Pacific Region each year, our participation will help safeguard Hong Kong's interests.
