The Minister of Foreign Affairs in Japan made a proposal in July of this year that there should be a meeting of
of senior officials to discuss the various drug abuse issues currently affecting Asia and the Pacific. The Meeting of Senior Officials on Drug Abuse Issues in Asia and the Pacific will take place between the 13th-15th of February 1991 in Tokyo, under the sponsorship of Japan and ESCAP.
Therefore, the Ministry would greatly appreciate if the UK Government could provide them with the names of two or three officials (one of senior level) who would be able to participate. The level of the participants is expected to be that of Director of the Bureau, or even more senior, and every country will be represented by two VIPS.
I would, therefore, be grateful if you could provide me with the names of the participants as soon as possible, so that I may inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan. Please find enclosed a brief outline and agenda for the meeting, for your perusal.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours sincerely
